Supporting the next generation of Diocesan students

The Diocesan Alumnae Association Bursary reflects the strength of our alumnae community and our shared commitment to making a Dio education accessible for future generations.

Established for girls whose mother or grandmother is a Diocesan Alumna, the bursary takes into account both family financial circumstances and the Dio Alumna’s past involvement in the school. It provides partial assistance of up to 50% of tuition fees, available from Year 7 onwards.

Scholarship applications open in early December and close in mid-February, for entry to the school the following academic year.

Thanks to the generosity of our alumnae, this bursary offers a helping hand to families who may be experiencing hardship.  Your support makes a difference — every contribution, big or small, helps a young Dio student continue her journey.

  • Who can apply for the DAA Bursary?

The Bursary is open to girls whose mother or grandmother is a Diocesan Alumna and who, without financial assistance, would otherwise be unable to attend Diocesan School for Girls (Years 7–13).

  • How long is the DAA Bursary available for?

It is available for up to 7 years, from Year 7 through Year 13, provided the student maintains satisfactory progress and exemplary behaviour each year.

  • How many students receive the Bursary each year?

Generally 1–2 students are awarded the Bursary annually. This is at the sole discretion of the DAA and may vary depending on the Association’s financial position.

  • What are the selection considerations?

Applications are considered based on the family’s financial circumstances and the past involvement of the alumna (mother or grandmother) in the School.

  • Will siblings of recipients also be granted the Bursary?

No. Having a sibling who previously received the Bursary does not guarantee that subsequent siblings will be awarded it. Each application is assessed on its own merit.

  • What are the expectations of students on the Bursary?

Recipients are expected to complete their secondary education at Diocesan School for Girls and to maintain satisfactory progress and exemplary behaviour throughout their enrolment.

  • What do I need to supply for my application?

    Applicants must provide:

    • A completed Diocesan School for Girls Application Form (if not already submitted)
    • The DAA Bursary Application Form
    • A written statement from the student and parent/caregiver about what attending Diocesan means to them
    • A completed Statement of Financial Position (confidential)
    • A recent photograph
  • What assistance is included?

The Bursary provides partial financial assistance of up to 50% of tuition fees only. It does not cover incidental charges. The Bursary also includes the Diocesan Alumnae Association life membership fee.
